All Christians share in the priesthood of Jesus because all are called to be a living sign of Jesus' love in the world.
Some persons, however, are chosen and anointed as ordained ministers in the Church.
The person who receives the Sacrament of Orders, a Priest, is called to a role of leadership in the service of the community.
Priests are ordained not only to serve but also to lead the Church community, to act as a unifier of all the faithful, especially through the Eucharistic celebration.
