All Christians share in the priesthood of Jesus because all are called to be a living sign of Jesus' love in the world.
Some persons, however, are chosen and anointed as ordained ministers in the Church. The person who receives the Sacrament of Orders, a Deacon, is called to a role of leadership in the service of the community.
Deacons serve the Christian community by preaching, baptizing, witnessing marriages and assisting at Eucharist.
